In receiving the "Latihan" it is necessary for us that we are in the condition
of being void of all kinds of influences.It is exactly this condition which is
truthfully called,surrender.

In its essence ,you can come to the surrender at these times of opening and
doing the exercise,only when your heart is emptied and void of everything ,
such as your hopes ,desires and wishes,even your wish to surrrender to God,for
that of you which wishes to do so in this way is nothing but your own heart.

The truth is that,in the exercise,it is the will of God that you should
do nothing not think,but just feel yourselves. Movements and vibrations will
then arise spontaneously from within yourselves.And the arising of these movements
mean that you are surrendering to God.

The Central principle of SUBUD is SURRENDER to Almighty God.
Sincerity Surrender and Submission is the basic requirement of Latihan.
This is the essential feature of every religion and therefore ,Subud is a
harmonising factor of all
religions.

The unique feature of Subud is that,through Bapak's precious Gift of Latihan,
we experience the direct contact of God Almighty and our surrender is a
surrenderof the jiwa and not the mind or will.

Unlike other religious practices,this surrender comes without any conscioue effort
our part.In fact, any effort of will is counter productive.

Because of the surrender is of the jiwa,we experience "Spiritual Bliss",which state,under traditional system,comes after a long and continued effort the guidance of a "GURU".
